Welcome to the fourteenth edition of our HUTS Town Guide Series. Today we’ll be guiding you through Delhi. Delhi is a historic agricultural hub, and a quaint college town with a charming little main street. You’ll find plenty to do, see, and eat in this Delaware County gem.

Where to Eat: 

A long time favorite of ours is the Blue Bee Cafe, the perfect brunch spot, or anything spot really. From homemade lavender and chai flavored ice cream to omelettes, delicious soups, sandwiches and various lunch options you’ll be happy you found this place. You can pick it up to go and take it with you on an adventure or you can sit in one of their charming booths and sip some coffee or tea savoring one of their homemade baked goods. 

What to do outside:

The Bramley Mountain Trail is one of the most popular hiking trails in the Western Catskills, totaling at about 4 miles long this loop will be moderately challenging in spots but worth the views when hiking down the summit trail. This beautiful trail maintained by Catskill Mountain Club is also on a mission to restore the Bramley Mountain Fire Tower at the summit for hikers to experience even more breathtaking views. After your hike you’ll be ready for a snack and with all of the amazing farms surrounding Delhi a trip to the Delhi Farmers Market is a must! Another great outdoor activity is the annual Taste of the Catskills Festival which is another celebration of the area’s abundance of farmers and artisans that takes place every Fall. 

What to do inside:

Check out the nearby Franklin Stage Company for some indoor arts and cultural experiences, hoping to resume in person performances in 2021, this professional stage company offers a wide variety of admission-free performances to share their passion for storytelling. The theatre is located in the beautifully preserved historic Chapel Hall building built in 1836! Originally home to the prestigious Delaware Literary Institute, then home to the elusive Freemason society it subsequently was left to the stage company to ensure its use and preservation as a public cultural hub. 

Where to Stay:

If you’re down to rough it,  take just a short drive out of Delhi to one of the coolest camping grounds you’ll come across in the area. The Dirt Road Camp offers three of what they refer to as “dwellings” or a multitude of tent camping sites including a group tent site that has us ready to get our friends together for a weekend of campfires and spooky stories! The “dwellings” range from a “Lean-to” cabin, a glamping tent, to their “outpost” cabin, but keep in mind that while there is no indoor plumbing these glamping sites are fully stocked with anything you’ll need from a french press, to board games, and even a dart board, you’ll be having such a great time you won’t even realize that you haven’t showered in 3 days!
