Don’t Overlook this Airbnb: Catskill Overlook Mountain Sanctuary

Over here at HUTS we spend a lot of time scouring through listings on vacation rental websites to find what vacationers are loving and what features set our favorites apart. Most of the time we read reviews and get pulled in by a good story. Enter Jason and Sarissa, owners of a new Airbnb property in Neversink with a passion for storytelling and making their guests feel like the main character. Upon discovery of the home they immediately knew this was their Catskill dream escape, they acquired the home from a sweet husband and wife who lived there for around 30 years. Jason and Sarissa set out to incorporate and celebrate the stories that were made in the home and find a way to share and make space for new memories and stories to be made.

The two bedroom and one and a half bath light filled home is an unpretentious charming escape that sleeps four guests set upon immaculately landscaped park-like grounds that includes a Koi pond and serene deck perfect for yoga and sunbathing. Let’s not forget access to a lake that the house is perched over where you can kayak, and canoe! And I mean the view! It’s breathtaking during any season, take your coffee out on the deck to watch the morning mist roll off the mountains or cozy up near the fireplace and let the snow dusted trees surround you.

Sarissa and Jason include sweet touches and attention to detail with small things like a guest book for each guest to write in and share their story! With the previous owners leaving them their craftsman workshop and tools Jason and Sarissa put great care and thought into repairing and updating the home inorder to retain the home’s own story, which is what drew them to the property in the first place. Jason and Sarissa’s story telling passion makes its way into their  recommendations for their guests while also educating them on the history of the area and what it means to be staying in a designated watershed, as well as a protected forest preserve.
