Town Guide #17: Bethel

Welcome to our seventeenth edition of our HUTS Town Guide Series. Many of us know this town as the home of the historic 1969 Woodstock Festival, Bethel NY carries that feel good energy into all it has to offer!

Where to eat:

For a heartwarming breakfast head over to the Bethel Market Cafe. This cafe is full of charm, enjoy some homemade quiches and decadent french toast in a building that was there for Woodstock and long before. Don’t miss out on their extensive baked goods either, we love their almond horns!

What to do outside:

How can you go wrong strolling around on the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock festival at the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. Follow the Bindy Bazaar Trails into the woods where festival attendees waited out the rain and vendors set up shop for the weekend of the festival. Just keep an eye out for the vibrant crochet patterns wrapped around the trees as part of a large-scale art installation by  artist Carol Hummel.

What to do inside:

Follow Bindy’s Trails right back towards the Museum at Bethel Woods to see films and treasures left behind from that groovy weekend that defined a decade. After the museum you can head over to the Catskill Distillery at the Dancing Cat Saloon and sip on some award winning spirits.
